Search and Seizure Mastermind Course

The Search and Seizure Mastermind course is an 8-hour NMDPS approved course that breaks down New Mexico's version of the 4th Amendment (Article II, Section 10) and teaches officers the key differences between federal and state law.  Do you want to learn how New Mexico search and seizure law works?  This course covers the warrant requirement under New Mexico law and uses New Mexico specific case law to explain common exceptions to the warrant requirement.  Some of the topics covered in this course are consensual encounters, reasonable suspicion, probable cause, vehicle searches and warrantless home entry just to name a few.

Advanced Search & Seizure in New Mexico Drug Investigations Course 

New Mexico Drug Task Force Agents must know and understand both Fourth Amendment and Article II, Section 10 requirements. Drug Task Force Agents typically find themselves in situations implicating both Fourth Amendment and New Mexico rights. This course will teach officers the differences between the Fourth Amendment and New Mexico’s Article II, Section 10 requirements. Given a factual situation, officers will be able to make investigatory stops based upon reasonable suspicion gathered from confidential informants, draft legally sufficient search warrants and comply with both federal and state laws involving the issuance and execution of search warrants for drugs.

Learn how to work informants in accordance with the law and how to draft a legally sufficient search warrant based upon a credible informant. This course is designed for narcotics agents but every investigator will take value from this course.
